Training
Trey Johnson has worked and trained for three of the top trainers in the country, such as Kenny Trot, Mark Edwards, and Bobby Purser. He has taken the skills he has learned, and combined with his own techniques, has created a powerful training program. Trey has been training gun dogs for eight years and hunt test and field trail dogs for three years. He is always studying new developments and strives to meet the individual needs of each dog. Trey offers head start programs for puppies, basic obedience training, transition, and advanced training. An oral evaluation is included in all programs.
Training Programs
One Shot Kennels' fees include feeding, boarding, birds, and training. There are no hidden costs. All dogs must have the bordetello vaccination. Heartworm medication must be provided at the owner's expense. Immunizations must be up to date for the safety and health of each dog. We feed only Purina Pro Plan Performance for excellent nutrition.
Head Start for Puppies
Introduction to water, birds, and basic obedience commands. Our goal is to make each puppy as "birdie" as possible and to love the retrieving game. Cost: $350.00/month
Basic Program
Introduction to basic training. Obedience is the foundation of all retriever training. Obedience includes: set (stay), here, and heel. During this training time, we also begin to condition a dog to stop on a whistle. Other skills we teach during the basic program are force fetch, 3 handed casting, collar condition, stick fetch, force to pile, stick to pile, T, double T, and swim by. Cost: $500.00/month.
Transition Program
Transition from the yard to the field--This stage of training teaches pattern blinds, blind drills, diversions with pattern blinds, cold blinds, water blinds, multiple blinds, and singles off multiple guns. Cost: $500.00/month.
Advanced Program
Hunt Test Dogs Only -will be assessed a $50.00 handling fee per dog, per Hunt Test.
Junior Dogs Only - No Pass No Pay (handling fee).
Pre Season Tune-Ups
Has your retriever sat in the kennel all year without any work? If so, then it will need a good tune up on the commands and fieldwork it already knows in order to be ready for that opening morning of hunting. This program is designed for the retriever that has previous training and field experience, but needs a tune-up for the upcoming hunting season. We will focus on conditioning, steadiness, marking, and any other commands your retriever may already know. Cost: $150.00/week
One-on-One Sessions
One on One Sessions allows you to schedule an hour where you and your dog can come meet with Trey one-on-one. He will work with you and your dog in an effort to help you achieve the desired response your working toward with your dog. Feel free to give him a call to discuss your training options in order to help you determine what program would be best for you and your dog. Cost: $45.00/hour
